Reliance® Dextex: a new name for an old friend!

Ahlstrom-Munksjö sterile barrier systems offer excellent bacterial barrier thanks to cellulosic fibers that create a tortuous path for excellent sterility maintenance of surgical instruments up to the point of use. Thanks to their features, our high performance sterilization wraps play a key role in the prevention of hospital-acquired infections, protecting patients’ health.

Dextex wetlaid  sterilization wraps have a long history of use in the sterilization industry and are well recognized throughout the globe for their reliable performance.

In our continuous effort to facilitate our customers and help their businesses succeed, we have decided to harmonize the wetlaid portfolio of high-performance sterilization wraps in the United States under our globally recognized  Reliance®  brand.

We changed the name of our sheeted wetlaid sterilization wrap products manufactured at the Medical business plant of Windsor Locks and sold in the United States to  Reliance® Dextex. 

In addition to sterilization wraps for terminally sterilized medical devices, the Reliance® Dextex brand includes overwrap for single use Custom Procedure Trays (CPT) and tray liners for moisture absorption and protection of the tray.

All new materials packaged include this new name on all labels and corresponding documentation. In addition, all boxes of sheeted wetlaid wrap will include a reformatted Instructions for Use (IFU) document reflecting the name change.

About our range of Sterilization Wraps

In addition to wetlaid high performance sterilization wraps, the Reliance® umbrella includes crepe paper, manufactured at the French site of Pont Audemer. Used for sterilization wraps and tray liners, this product provides excellent barrier properties with moisture absorption capacity.

Reliance® SMS, produced in Mundra, India, is composed 100% of polypropylene making it a strong and durable technology.

All the materials can be combined into Reliance® Tandem, an interleaved solution for Sterile Barrier Systems featuring two items of either the same technology in different colors or different technologies and grammages for achieving the optimal result.

Last but not least, Reliance® Solo,  composed of two bonded sheets of SMS for easy to use, simultaneous wrapping.
